Abstract

This research was conducted with the intention of determining the extent to which early-career academics working in Spanish universities make use of motivation that is inspired by spirituality in order to boost the amount of research they do. According to the findings of the study, assistant professors who were able to connect their work to personal significance and community service were more likely to publish research and participate in collaborative projects. The research was carried out with the assistance of a structural equation model, which was constructed on the basis of the remarks made by 135 assistant professors. In terms of maintaining intellectual production and research engagement over the course of time, the outcomes of the study demonstrated that extrinsic incentives were less efficient than intrinsic spiritual motivation. This was the case when comparing the two types of motivation between the two.
