Abstract
The National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) heralds a transformative era for India’s education landscape, with a visionary roadmap to revitalize teacher education, harness the richness of Indian Knowledge Systems IKS, and revolutionize the learning ecosystem. By proposing a sweeping overhaul of the education system, it sets its sights on cultivating a new generation of educators, equipped to foster a holistic, inclusive, and adaptive learning environment that nurtures the diverse potential of students and the present study explores into the NEP 2020’s holistic approach to Teacher Education (TE), employing a document analysis of qualitative approach methodology to distill the policy’s essence. The findings underscore the policy’s potential to redefine TE, thereby elevating the quality of education in India and empowering teachers to become architects of a future-ready 21st century learning ecosystem.
